Minimum requirements for a start-up business to tender:
The Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act mandates that Organs of State implement specific minimum requirements when awarding tenders, ensuring that a business is legally compliant and up to date with tax obligations.
These requirements include:
- Company registration documents
- Registration on the Central Supplier Database
- A tax clearance certificate: The business must be registered with SARS for Income Tax purposes
However, it’s important to note that simply having a registered company does not equate to operating a business.
These items are just the starting point. Once you meet these three criteria, you must actively engage in business operations, meaning your enterprise should be a viable concern.
To deepen your understanding of this and other tender conditions and minimum requirements for a start-up business to tender, consider attending our “Become a Tender Expert” two-day workshops and webinars.
