As you know the Government has launched the Central Supplier Database on 1 September 2015. One of the purposes is "the establishment of a Central Supplier Database (CSD) that will result in one single database to serve as the source of all supplier information for all spheres of government.

How to Register on the Central Supplier Database

On 28 September 2015 we published an article about the Government's Central Supplier Database and the fact that any company who wants to do business with South African Government Entities has to register on this database. Since then we have had an overwhelming response from Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (SMME's) owners requesting help to register on the CSD.

Registering on the Central Supplier Database

On 1 September 2015 the Government's Central Supplier Database was launched by the Minister of Finance Mr Nhlanhla Nene. The idea behind the Central Supplier Database is to centralise supplier's data to simplify Government's procurement processes. It also aims to reduce costs to both Government as well as Suppliers to Government.

I often wonder what the use is to register as a supplier on a supplier database of Organs of State. I mean to say, I have registered with more Organs of State than I can remember and I really can`t say that me or the companies I have registered have received any work from these Organs of State purely on the basis of our registration.

Functionality and Tenders

In all competitive bids (tenders) you as the bidder will have to respond to Functionality. You will need to score a set minimum number of points, measured as a percentage, on Functionality of a competitive bid (tender) in order to advance to the next phase of evaluation in the tender process.

Usually Organs of State evaluate competitive bids (tenders) as follows:
